We understand that it can be challenging for pups who have never worn clothing to suddenly adapt to an orthopedic garment. That’s why we offer a 7-day trial period and up to 3 size exchanges to help you find the right fit. We’ve kept this window brief because most pet parents can quickly tell if the brace will work for their dog. Some dogs may need a couple of days to get used to the tripod sleeve—starting with the vest first can often help, gradually adding the sleeve as your pup becomes more comfortable. It might take some gentle encouragement, like making it part of their routine, reward with snacks, or using it before mealtime. Don’t give up on your dog! Your persistence can make all the difference.

Now, here’s something to keep in mind: this bracing system is meant to support and strengthen dogs that still have the ability to get up on their own and walk, but may need a little extra help. If your dog can’t get up, can’t walk, or is in a very advanced stage of deconditioning, this may not be the right solution for them. Our goal is to support dogs who are able to stand and move on their own but need assistance to stay mobile and comfortable. The disadvantage that tripods may have is the inability to offload weight to the opposing limb. This means that since the missing limb partner (front or back) isn't there we have a massive amount of torsion in the remaining shoulder girdle or hip joint.

To alleviate and support an advancing degeneration in these joints, Dr Pierce thoughtfully created a single sleeve that doesn't just attach at the shoulder or hip, it is elongated to wrap around the body to encourage thoracic opposition musculature conditioning. In other words, it's a work out for body lifting muscles- making them stronger with each wear. This sleeve system is not for dogs with any trouble getting off the ground. These dogs require a wheelchair.
